“Beach Babes Lever Card Class”

Instructor: Tonya Weakley – Peddlers Den

In this humorous, technique-driven class, you will stamp, mask, stencil, and color. You will use clear stamps and our basic (whimsical) cloud stencil. Once all the stamping and stenciling are complete, you will be coached to color and blend using colored pencils. You will keep both of the clear stamp sets you use. You may need to finish your coloring at home.

Supplies to bring to class: Scissors, a black dye ink pad, colored pencils with sharpener, adhesive, pencil, pink eraser, acrylic blocks, and /or platform. If you have it, bring a VersaMark pad, but don’t buy one for the class. We recommend Prismacolor pencils, but any high-quality, soft pigment pencils should work. If you need to preorder, we sell the colors individually. Contact Tonya, and ask for the class bundle price. [email protected] or phone 256-660-0999

“A Touch of Color”

Instructor: Christine O’Malley

I have a new and unique class for those who enjoy adding color to their images. I

will guide you through the basics of coloring with alcohol markers and colored

pencils. I will share my tips for blending with each coloring medium. I have chosen

a selection of images for us to practice and learn with. Due to the short class time,

we will focus will be on technique. Images can easily be turned into cards at a later

time.

Our in-person class time is just two hours, but learning continues when the class is

over. My experience when taking classes is you get a ton of information thrown at

you. When you get home, it is difficult to remember it all. Each class participant will

get access to videos with reminders of key information, so they can recreate the

techniques at home.

In class we will focus on:

  • What materials do you need to be successful with each coloring medium
  • Instructional section on how to color and blending with alcohol markers
  • Instructional section on blending and steps to getting a professional finish to

colored pencils.

  • Learn the how to combine both mediums to get the most of your coloring

supplies.

Supplies to bring to class: favorite adhesive, scissors, bag/ envelope for colored images.

Bring what colored pencils or alcohol markers you have.

“Gel Plate Backgrounds”

Instructor: Tonya Weakley – Peddlers Den

When you use Gel Plates, each piece is unique. No two will ever be the same. This is a technique that requires the artist to be fluid and flexible in their expectations. There are oodles of techniques you can use, each giving you different results. In this class, we will explore the basics. You will make a variety of backgrounds, using various techniques, and then we will help you turn one of those into a finished card. Your results WILL BE different than the samples shown. You will be using images from our Utopia World fantasy collection.

Supplies to bring to class: Students must bring an onyx black VersaFine pad (the small cube is plenty), as well as some acrylic blocks, adhesive, a glitter pen (we recommend Sakura Gelly Roll), two dye ink pads from the same or complimentary color family (i.e., 2 blue, 2 greens, etc.), baby wipes and a couple of blending or stipple brushes. If you choose to bring a platform, I recommend that you ALSO bring at least one medium size acrylic block. We will provide acrylic paints, but if there is a color group that you prefer, bring your paints as well. You will be offered a limited color palette that will be shared with your group. Any crafter’s acrylic paint should work. Optional: acrylic paints pens and gel pens can be used to boost or add color.
