Color Me Happy

Instructor: Chris O’Malley

Color Me Happy – for Alcohol markers and colored pencils.

Each year, I spotlight a coloring technique. Whether you prefer alcohol markers or colored pencils this class will help you step up your coloring skills. This year we will focus on texture. The world is not flat… and your coloring shouldn’t be either. Sometimes we focus so much on the perfect blend, that we forget about how things really look. Let’s embrace the hairy, shiny, prickly, curly, bubbly world we live in.

In class, we will walk through the basics of blending of alcohol markers and colored pencils. This is a good reminder for everyone and will help anyone that is struggling with blending. Then we will tackle texture techniques. I have chosen a selection of images for us to practice and learn with. Due to the short class time, we will focus will be on coloring techniques. Images can easily be turned into cards at a later time.

In class we will focus on:

  • Materials needed to be successful with each coloring medium
  • Instructional section on how to color and blending with alcohol markers
  • Instructional section on blending and steps to getting a professional finish to colored pencils.
  • Learn to add texture in variety of ways to FIVE different images.

Supplies to bring to class: favorite adhesive, scissors, dimensional dots/foam, bag/ envelope for colored images. Bring what colored pencils or alcohol markers you have. I recommend bringing a white colored pencil.
